Joey Gonzalez, Coach "G"
Head Coach
Hi, I'm Joey Gonzalez and I’ve been coaching flag football for the past four years. My coaching background also includes boys’ football and baseball, and I’m proud to have worked with athletes across various age groups and skill levels. What makes this especially meaningful is that my daughter plays the sport too—being part of the growth of female athletes in football has been an incredible experience. I grew up around the game and have always had a passion for both playing and coaching. I played high school football at Los Altos High, where we won a CIF championship, then continued at Mt. SAC where we became conference champs. I later earned my business degree from Whittier College and kept my love for the game alive by playing adult flag football for many years—mostly on the beach. As a player, I was honored to be named All-League, All-CIF, and Finals MVP. Coaching has taken me to Los Altos High, Foothill High, and youth programs like the West Covina Bruins and Tustin Cobras. My coaching philosophy is simple: “The way you do one thing is how you do everything.” I aim to help athletes grow into great leaders—on and off the field—by teaching empathy, communication, and the ability to truly listen. What I enjoy most about coaching high school sports is being part of each athlete’s journey. Whether they’re facing physical, mental, or emotional challenges, those moments shape who they become. Watching them overcome and succeed is incredibly rewarding, and I’m grateful to play a small part in that process. Outside of coaching, I’m a big fan of the Las Vegas Raiders and USC football. I also enjoy spending time with my family—barbecuing by the pool with music on or chasing the kids around from soccer to football to lacrosse. A fun fact about me: I love to sing… just don’t hand me a karaoke mic!

Leslie Cameron, Coach Leslie
Asst. JV Coach
I’m Leslie Cameron. I’ve been coaching girls’ flag football for the past two years, and I absolutely love it. It’s exciting to see the sport gaining momentum at the high school level—more teams, tougher competition, and growing opportunities for young women. It’s something I’m passionate about, and I feel lucky to be part of it. Sports have always played a big role in my life. I grew up playing softball from the age of four all the way through varsity in high school, and even now I still play in adult coed leagues. I also played flag football in high school as a quarterback—back before it was even an official sport. Learning the game back then helped shape the way I see it now as a coach. My friends and family were the ones who encouraged me to use my love of sports to help build up the next generation of female athletes. That’s really what inspired me to coach. My approach is rooted in the fundamentals—consistency, discipline, and helping each athlete push to reach her full potential. At the heart of everything I teach is respect: for the game, the team, the coaches, family, school, and most importantly, yourself. I want my athletes to feel empowered through sports, and to understand that with hard work, there are no limits to what they can achieve—on or off the field. Outside of flag football, I enjoy golfing as often as I can—a love I picked up from my grandparents as a kid. I’m also a big fan of traveling, going to sporting events, and enjoying great food with friends and family. One of my proudest athletic moments was being part of the CIF-SS Division 1 champion Upland High School softball team as a freshman. We actually beat Foothill 3–1 for the championship! As for football fandom, I’ve always been a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. I’m actually a shareholder and a season ticket holder. Go Pack Go! And here’s a fun fact: since 2015, I’ve been on a competitive jigsaw puzzle team. We’ve traveled across the country to compete—and yes, that’s a real thing! One of my favorite quotes is from the legendary Coach John Wooden: “Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.” That’s what I strive for, both as a coach and in life.
